Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out the rules for using the Circle247 application and website (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Permitted Use
Circle247 is designed for legitimate family safety and personal safety purposes. You may use the Service to:
- Share your location with family members and trusted contacts who are aware of and consent to the sharing
- Send SOS alerts to your designated circle contacts in situations where you feel unsafe
- Monitor the safety of family members (including children) who have been informed that monitoring is taking place
- Use check-in features to confirm your wellbeing with your circle
2. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use the Service to:
2.1 Harassment and Abuse
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, or threaten any person
- Monitor or track any person without their knowledge and informed consent
- Use location data to control, coerce, or abuse another person (including in the context of domestic abuse)
- Use the SOS feature maliciously, including sending false alerts to cause distress
2.2 Unlawful Activity
- Engage in any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Facilitate criminal conduct or gather information for unlawful purposes
- Impersonate another person or create accounts using false information
- Use the Service in connection with any form of commercial surveillance
2.3 Technical Misuse
- Attempt to access other users’ accounts or data without authorisation
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
- Circumvent security measures or access controls
- Spoof or falsify location data
2.4 Misuse of Safety Features
- Repeatedly trigger false SOS alerts
- Use SOS alerts for non-emergency purposes
- Deliberately ignore or fail to respond to SOS alerts from your circle members
- Manipulate check-in features to create a false sense of security
3. Guardian Responsibilities
If you hold a Guardian account, you have additional responsibilities:
- Ensure all circle members have given informed consent to location sharing
- For children under 18, obtain parental or guardian consent before adding them to a circle
- Inform children that their location is being monitored in age-appropriate language
- Respond promptly and appropriately to SOS alerts and offline notifications
- Not use the Service as a tool of control or coercion over any circle member
- Remove members from your circle promptly upon their request
4. Reporting Violations
If you believe someone is violating this Acceptable Use Policy, or if you are experiencing abuse through the Service, please contact us immediately at hello@circle247.com.
If you are in immediate danger, call 999.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse, contact the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247 or visit nationaldahelpline.org.uk.
5. Enforcement
We may take any action we deem appropriate in response to violations of this AUP, including:
- Issuing a warning
- Temporarily suspending your account
- Permanently terminating your account
- Reporting conduct to law enforcement authorities
We will act proportionately and, where possible, provide notice before taking action, unless the violation poses an immediate risk to the safety of others.
6. Changes
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email.
